How to make a meaningful impact on your drivers in just three minutes
The best coaching sessions are brief, to the point, collaborative, and end on a positive note. Make sure that you’ve prepared for the coaching session by reviewing the video and the points you want to make.
In the first minute of a coaching session: Review the behavior. Watch the video at least twice and ask the driver to point out what they see. Next, communicate expectations. Explain the risks, and review what steps should have been taken. Finally, in the last minute, commit to improvement. Document the session. Both you and driver should commit to working together to making a specific change or changes that help the driver be safer on the road.
