This award recognizes Smart Care for its innovative use of artificial intelligence to make dramatic improvements in operational efficiency and technician safety in implementing Lytx® field services solutions.

Award Background
Smart Care’s recent success story began in 2018, when the company’s senior leaders saw an uptick in costly collisions, insurance rates, and workers compensation claims. Smart Care’s existing GPS solution provided some data, but there was not enough to support an effective coaching program to reduce accidents. The leadership team took action and underwent a complete fleet safety transformation that year with the help of Lytx.
The latest transformation began in 2023 with a pilot of the Lytx Driver Safety Program across six diverse markets. The pilot was a success and later that year, Smart Care decided to upgrade and install Lytx’s video telematics with machine vision and artificial intelligence (MV+AI) in its vehicles. Again, the company did a gradual implementation and first installed the technology in a pilot group of vehicles before rolling it out to 200 more vehicles. By the end of Q2 2024, Smart Care’s entire fleet will be equipped with Lytx’s MV+AI video telematics.
Smart Care’s Results
The most notable measure of their success was technician utilization—with the fleet tracking capabilities of the Lytx video telematics solution, Smart Care increased their fleet utilization rate from 65% to 80%. Work visits also increased from 1.8 to over 2.5 per day. This means more billable hours, less downtime, and greater efficiencies, which have more than paid for the cost of adding Lytx’s tools and technology.
Additionally, Smart Care saw significant improvements in safe driving behaviors, reduced collisions and lower insurance premiums. Lytx’s solution is pivotal in interpreting real-time data to detect risky driving behaviors, which then helps guide coaching conversations.
