    What is a telematics system?

    The term "telematics" is a combination of two areas of technology: telecommunications and informatics. “Telecommunications'' is defined as communication at a distance. Think over-the-air transmission, as in the modern-day telephone.  “Informatics” refers to data processing. So, what is telematics?
